OUR MISSION
We aim to:
- provide a free platform to promote the creatives amongst us,
musicians, bands, songwriters, poets, fine artists, street and graphic artists, dancers, sound studios and engineers, producers, techies, musical equipment suppliers, live performance venues to become known to each other and to allow for the flow of information between them all. - promote the spirit of community in the music and creative subcultures.
HOW WE CAME ABOUT
The tragic death of talented local musician Davina Hutchinson has jolted us into taking an initiative of setting up a website to introduce our local talent to the world.
Many local artists do not record their music, are not played on SA airwaves, and cannot afford to establish their own platforms or to employ professional promoters. But new technology has given us the tools to ‘do it for ourselves’. We don’t need to be dependent on corporate advertising or state-regulated commercial radio. Internet has given us access to independent platforms to give a voice to talented musicians, wherever they live and whatever their situation. Our mission is to use this platform as a strictly non-commercial way to showcase original music from the Nelson Mandela Bay area.
The site will cover local events, including original music, poetry and spoken word, and other forms of expression compatible with the technology – film, animation, photography, art, drama, comedy and other forms of performance.
This platform is inclusive of all genres, progressive, critical and original, and has few rules and regulations – except that -
- material posted on this site must be original and copyrighted
- material submitted must not encourage, promote or incite racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia or any other form of discrimination, cruelty or violence.
- material submitted must not encourage, promote or incite cruelty or violence in any form
We encourage creatives to copyright their original material before posting or distributing it in any other way.
